ACT Festival, Asia Culture Center, SOUTH KOREA, October-December 2017.

놀이터 is a participatory media artwork. It features a co-designed sculpture, interactive projection mapping and public participation. Audiences use printed maps and online clues to engage in a treasure hunt. They find hidden sculptural pieces, take photos of their city environment and upload their photos to an online platform. When the pubic arrive at the exhibition area they connect the sculptural pieces they have found onto the 놀이터 sculpture. All photos that are uploaded by the public are automatically animated in real-time and projected onto the sculpture.

PluginHUMAN - THE PLAYGROUND-Korea. Betty Sargeant and Justin Dwyer.

Through 놀이터 we socially and physically engage audiences and personalise their experience of art and technology. We turn a public precinct into a playground where audiences play with art.

This work is designed for Korean audiences – it is in Hangul (Korean script). The central sculpture spells the word 놀이터 meaning ‘play place’. We designed five different small sculptural pieces. Each piece spells a different word ie, ‘ART’, ‘TECHNOLOGY’, ‘TOGETHER’.
