놀이터 [2017]

ACT Festival, Asia Culture Center, SOUTH KOREA, October-December 2017

놀이터 is a participatory media artwork. It features a co-designed sculpture, interactive projection mapping and public participation. This work is designed for Korea audiences - it is in Hangul (Korean script). The central sculpture spells the word 놀이터 meaning playground.

We invite audiences to collect hidden sculptural pieces and to take photos of their city environment. The public upload their photos to an online platform.

When the pubic arrive at the exhibition area they connect their small sculptural piece onto the 놀이터 sculpture. All photos that are uploaded by the public are automatically animated in real-time and projected onto the sculpture.

We designed five different small sculptural pieces. Each piece spells a different word: the words translate to EVERYONE; ART; LANGUAGE; TIME; GOOD FORTUNE.

In effect audiences engage in a treasure hunt and work alongside others (EVERYONE) to play with ART, LANGUAGE and with TIME. We create an art playground for audiences to play within.

Through 놀이터 we socially and physically engage audiences and personalise their experience of art and technology.
